ちいさスター — Chiisa SUTAA

I looked up to the sky
and found a shining star
which let off its shine
I'm sure that, even if I myself cannot see it,
I'm one of the stars

Under a tree, a victory stand appeared
Today, too, someone proudly climbs on it
As I am just watching it happen
I don't want to boast, but
I haven't even once climbed there

In the class, I'm also average
My height, and my grades
From the front, 15, and from the back, 14
I don't stand out nor jump out
And I have no hidden special talents
I mutter "I'm sorry, mama"
But even so you say
"my child is the best"

I'm not a super star, but surely a tiny star
doesn't receive trophies or certificates
even if it's small, it's a shining star,
just not a super star
I can shine

To my ordinary self, there is no stage, no lights
At the end of each year, there are no amazing prizes
A tiny star who looks up to the super star

I realized suddenly, that there is no such a thing as equality
Where I would take a hundred years to accomplish something,
there are people who could do it straight away
No matter how much I dream and yearn for it
when I knew that there are things that just won't come true
I cried alone, but, from here on, there are surely interesting things

I'm not a super star, but surely a tiny star
doesn't receive trophies or certificates
even if it's small, it's a shining star,
just not a super star
I can shine

I'm not hit by spotlight,
I wouldn't be found amidst hundred people
in the audience
Even so the people who appear on television
throughout the entire day are top class
in the sky there are multitudinous shining stars
I shine under the vast sky
I couldn't have become a super star
but I can shine in my own way
That's right, if I laugh it's just fine!
If we're small, then let's become small!

  1. it's funny that in this song she says her height is average, but I remember on Anna Tsuchiya's generasia page it once said "she is a fan of massive dancehall singer lecca" lol. I wonder how tall she is. maybe they meant "massively popular."
